Der SL 72 wurde 1972 von AD als Teil der SL (Super Light) Laufschuh-Serie vorgestellt. Er wurde als leichter Wettkampfschuh entwickelt und diese moderne Version feiert diese sportliche Tradition. Sie hat ein leichtes Obermaterial aus Nylon mit Overlays aus weichem Wildleder und eine niedrigprofilierte Gummiaußensohle. Das auffällige SL 72 Logo im Retrolook an der Seite ist eine Hommage an das Original.
